Description

Author, historian, activist Donald Gilliard and I caught up on a call today to discuss his and my varying perspectives on 'Juneteenth' and how we we were both introduced to it way too late in life.

Then, a treat: actor & activist Ossie Davis recited Frederick Douglass' July 5, 1852 speech where Douglass dressed down a nation with millions enslaved by pointing out the nation's day of independence cannot be the 'independence day' for the enslaved.
