Biography:
Maakra (Maxim Kraynov) is a Russian musician from Smolensk, a sound designer, creator, DJ, and radio host. He is a resident of the indie label Dark Nouveau and has participated in a number of local and underground festivals. A former rock drummer with over 20 years of experience, he was a member of the legendary Smolensk avant-garde trip-rock band "With Knees Like Birds." He is a graduate of the New Tone Academy, where he completed a sound synthesis course taught by Daniil Smirnov. Since 2017, he has almost completely transitioned to a digital environment, gradually acquiring external sound and noise devices. His drum kit and love of bass guitar riffs have evolved into a setup consisting of Ableton Live, AKAI APC 40, Elektron Model Cycles, Korg Volca Bass, and a homemade Noise Box. He's currently developing the hybrid format Dawless & DAW—an electronic musical journey through the live jam session Synthesis & Sampling. He broadcasts on his VK and YouTube channels. Techno, dub, IDM, and ambient are all in his own interpretation, created here and now, layer by layer, like sand mandalas.
The mix is ​​inspired by deep minimalists and Berlin legends. I also decided to add my current release "Nidra Dub" at the end and add some somber bass synth chords to Smyglyssna's track "Gul Sprickbildning." You can ride a tram and gaze at the rainy city outside the window, or brew shu pu-erh tea in infusions while sitting on the couch in a noir-inspired loft!
