Bio:
Neglect is the solo ambient/electronic music project of Joseph Valentino. Starting in 2005 with
the self released CD-R ('Despierto EP') he has recorded and released 8 eps and 2 full length
albums of material, the majority of which are available on his Bandcamp page.
He began deejaying house and techno in 1995 after discovering the underground rave scene
that was happening in his then home of Tucson, AZ. Around the time he moved to Portland, OR
in 2001, a friend turned him onto the experimental music of Coil, Nurse With Wound and Daniel
Menche.
Drawing from the influences of the Berlin dub and hiss of Basic Channel to the orchestral
minimal looping of Gas and William Basinski to the calming soundscapes of Steve Roach,
Neglect seeks to find a meditative environment that is a sonic representation of the color,
shadow and stillness of nature. He currently lives in New Mexico.
