SIA captures how it feels to be a Black man in America no matter what city you're from. Ironically the hood i grew up in was called "Baghdad". We are at war with the system, our brothers & sisters and most importantly ourselves. Another inspiration was the creator of the fashion line "SIA", Dee Nyce. His brand represents Black excellence. High Fashion! Luxury street wear. His perspective and passion for our people is much appreciated should be celebrated. For Us. By Us!
The artwork on the other hand means so a lot to me too. My dad was(is) my best friend. He passed when I was 16. He was another brother that went to serve a country that never loved him but came back drug addicted. This photo embodies the war every black man inherits upon birth. Somewhere in America there's Black man rising up against his demons. I know my dad is smiling down...
