We are beginning consistently see Afrobeats artists granting interview to foreign media, and claiming they are not Afrobeats artist, or they do not want to be identified as Afrobeats artists. This is from the backdrop of Burna Boy who also in an interview, said "Afrobeats as they call it, Lacks substance"
What is responsible for this new wave of new genre naming in Afrobeats? Is this genre naming disadvantageous to the growth of Afrobeats? Does the word Afrobeats limit an artist to just making Afrobeats?
