About:
Code went from tuning into day-time national radio circa 1991 to hearing tapes of The Prodigy in 1992 and then he found early hardcore / rave / drum & bass / jungle by the age of 14 and that was it - the perfect music! In those early days it was labels like Reinforced, Moving Shadow, Rugged Vinyl, V Recordings and artists like 4-Hero, FBD Project, Intense, Hyper-On-Experience, Rufige Kru and Bizzy B that influenced his taste. Also, tapes of Dj’s like LTJ Bukem, Randall, Fabio & Ratty really made him want to get his own decks and start mixing himself.
Since then Code has become a successful Dj in his own right, promoting and playing at his own night “Nu Killa Beats” for 10 years aswell as playing many towns and cities in Ireland, the UK, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Iceland and Canada. Many of these nights were as the headline DJ and others were alongside the likes of ASC, Fabio, Andy C, Bailey, Breakage, Equinox, DJ Ink, Chris Inperspective, Zero T, Calibre, Mickey Finn and Remarc to name a few. To help spread the sound of D&B and Jungle he started a record label - “Subtle Audio” (@subtleaudiorecordings) in 2005. Since then artists such as Alpha Omega, Equinox, Breakage, Fanu, Macc, dgoHn, Naibu, DJ Trax, Nebula, Senses, Fracture & Neptune, Dissident and many more have contributed beats to the project and there are more releases planned for 2017 and beyond. The 'Bustle Beats' sub-label was launched in 2012 and caters for oldskool influenced, heavy hitting beats. Code has also started to release some music of his own - his debut release appeared on a compilation CD on Russian label 'Opposide' in 2015 and 2 collaborations with Mecca got a vinyl release on Subtle Audio that year as well. More music to follow soon. Besides all that he continues to spread the sound of breakbeat D&B / Jungle on the long-running internet radio station 'Jungletrain'. You can catch him on there fortnightly on Sundays from 8-10pm.
