I sought to recreate the musical aesthetic from the civil rights era with a modern vocal to show the parallels between our past and present realities. In 1980, Stevie Wonder released a song honoring Dr. King called, “Happy Birthday.” My hope is that this song, much like Stevie’s, resonates with you so much that you want to use it to help remind people that we need to change as a society. The internet is the greatest tool we have to promote a positive message world wide.
