June at Deployed Love and here at Ruck Up Buttercup is all about Mental Health and Self-Care we know how easy it is to give and give and not take the time for yourself. So we will be bringing you some great resources to help you add a little self-care to your life this summer. Today we had a special guest with us to talk about anxiety and depression and how it can affect you during deployment.
We have Odonna Whiddon she’s a full time mom, and part-time Counselor & Coach. She has for 18 years and has 3 boys. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan College for Women and a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Columbus State University. She has been doing Christian Counseling for more than a decade. Thank you so much for joining us today!!

During this episode we dug in and talked about anxiety and depression, and just how important it is to identify if you are going through times of stress when you should look for help during those hard times. Anxiety and Depression are normal, and you aren’t in this alone. There is so many people in your community who have had experiences with anxiety or depression. Especially in the military life as it breeds anxiety and depression when you are constant living in the unknown.

We talked about some great ways to use self-care to manage anxiety and depression, but also knowing the importance of reaching out to a good counselor or doctor when things you are doing on your own just aren’t allowing you to live your life fully and you need a little help. We often resist the idea of seeking help for anything and it doesn’t make you weak, instead it really allows you to learn how to be your strongest.

We talked about quite a few really good resources all of which are listed here:
