Description

On this week's episode we are joined with guest Gracie Burgess of Grace of a Military Child. She is the host of an amazing podcast that supports military families but telling the stories of military kids across the world. Her stories and program help to connect military kids with like minded people as well as allow them to hear other stories. This brings this beautiful sense of community to them. Not all military families are stationed at installations. Especially guards, and reserve units, however they still are activated and deployed. Those families feel disconnected and disadvantaged when very real life events happen.

Gracie so lovely tells her experience of the time her father was injured while deployed. Her heartbreaking story of how this affected her life being a military kid is one you should hear. We all hope that we will never have to be the one receiving a call like this, but unfortunately it happens. Ashley and Gracie chat about amazing resources to know about, it is better to be prepared than be grasping for strings if that time does come.

Resources Mentioned:

Military Advocacy Programs through schools: We don’t have a specific link for this as it will depend on your location. But this is amazing if your school has this function your kids will really enjoy connecting with other military kids in their community.
