Roly Porter began his career as part of pioneering dubstep duo Vex'd, releasing records on Subtext Records and Planet Mu. As a solo artist he returned to Subtext to release the albums Aftertime and Life Cycle of a Massive Star, both listed in Fact Magazines Albums of the Year. This work ventures away from club-based electronic, veering instead into dense, harrowing walls of sound utilizing classical instruments as well as heavy, distorted bass tones.
Roly Porter was invited to Aldeburgh for a collaborative residency with Cynthia Millar that resulted in a third album, Fall Back. His latest album, Third Law, was released on 22nd January through TriAngle Records and was described by Pitchfork as "truly, awesomely, terrifying" and has recieved universal acclaim. His latest project is a collaboration with Paul Jebanasam entitled "Altar" which premiers at this years Atonal festival on the 18th August.
