Description

Melbourne-based producer R hunter takes equal influence from club, ambient and classical styles to create combined and alternate representations of genres. Following a background in composition he has rapidly progressed towards a voracious need to create without discernible reference, regardless of chosen sound palette or platform. On his debut release ‘Estrus’, out on NICE Music in 2016, plumbing the world of software synthesis and sound manipulation with abandon to forge dystopian and at times hellish sound collages.

R hunter's exclusive piece ‘3 imprinted textures’ is a mix of unreleased music that explores how form can be subordinated by timbre. The work makes reference to many different musical experiences: synthesized and recorded sounds interact organically with one another, embedded within an architecture of ambient textures, field recordings and YouTube sampling. The result is a struggle between the measured and unmeasured, where music moves freely between ‘on’ the grid and ‘off’ the grid.
