About the Playwright:
Susan Glaspell (1876-1948) was an American playwright, novelist, journalist and actress. She founded the Provincetown Players with her husband George Cram Cook, which is considered the first modern American theatre company. She was well-known for her short stories, and her play “Alison's House” (1930) earned her the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Glaspell is recognized as a pioneering feminist writer and one of America's first modern female playwrights.
