Program Note:
The main theme of this piece spontaneously popped into my head while I was in a chamber concert. It was so spontaneous that right after the concert, I immediately started playing the piano and wrote down the notes. In the piece, there are frequent incorporations of chromatic – the beginning of the melody is established with 0-1-12 which occurs throughout the piece in different rhythms and forms and it creates a unity in the piece. The following middle section continues to use 0-1-12 and is intertwined with each instrument which generates an expressive and dreamlike quality. After unique interweaved solos of violin, flute, and piano, it goes back to A prime section which mimics the original A, however, in a sarcastic way. Hope you enjoy the piece!
