As Daddy fades into the sky their faces fill up with delight
At just the thought of all he’ll bring when he returns
Little toys and trinkets chosen with each one in mind
He’ll pull out of his suitcase as soon as their cries he discerns
He’s waiting for the moment, he’s been dreaming of the day
When they’d reach for his face, forget his hand and say to him
All I want is to
Gaze into your eyes
As I sit at your wounded feet and
Rest my head upon your lap
Let my worries fall beneath, fall beneath
Lay down by your side
Watch my worries roll on by
Just cherish your presence
I only want to cherish you
This scenario reminds me of another one who’s gone away
His servants awaiting lavish crowns
When our Lord returns to seize us for the Kingdom
We’ll know just who we’ve become, self-indulgence will astound
Sometimes I’m just like the kids I seek your blessings and your gifts
When what I should be seeking is the Blesser, the Giver, and
Gaze into Your eyes
As I sit at Your wounded feet and
Rest my head upon Your lap
Let my worries fall beneath, fall beneath
Lay down by Your side
Watch my worries roll on by
Just cherish Your presence
I only want to cherish You
Gifts of knowledge, gifts of Heaven
Gifts of the Spirit pale in comparison to my desire to
Gaze into Your eyes
As I sit at Your wounded feet and
Rest my head upon Your lap
Let my worries fall beneath, fall beneath
Lay down by Your side
Watch my worries roll on by
Just cherish Your presence
I only want to cherish You
Cherish, oh, cherish You
Cherish You
