Description

Here is a really beautiful way to start a new day: one that draws on the long monastic tradition of the appointed brother or sister waking each member of the community with a knock on their door to greet the day in the name of the Lord – and the Lord of the day.

May we too hear in spirit this summons to bless and praise our Lord, and say with them, ‘Deo Gratias’ – Thanks be to God. It is a response that shapes and sets the tone for the day, encouraging the call to unbroken communion with our precious Lord.

Robert and Ros Weston and Elizabeth Hume join Susanne Herzog, (Violin) Catherine Muncey, (viola) Corinne Frost, (Cello) Nicola Gerrard, (piccolo) and Anthony Thompson (trumpet) in this piece that is set to this overwhelmingly beautiful music from the late sixteenth century by Thoinot Arbeau, the anagrammatic pseudonym of the French cleric Jean Tabouret.
