Love Divine, written by Francis Cummings
Francis writes that he has had a deep touch from the Lord over the course of the last few years concerning the city of Manchester. The Lord reminded him just what a debt of gratitude he owes the city: he lived there for nearly three decades, received his education there, became a Christian and was filled with the Spirit there. He met his wife there and their three children were born there. Ever since the fullness of this realisation struck him, his heart has been soft towards this wonderful city.
Like so many across the world, he feels so broken over the tragedy that happened in the Manchester Arena, and prayer is rising in his heart. He very much hopes that this piece of music will inspire many hearts to turn to the Lord in prayer.
Manchester is one of those cities that people tend to either love or not. May Francis' words have the effect of helping us all to overcome any prejudice and to love it still more with Jesus' love at this time when trauma has struck the city through the bomb in the Manchester Arena. May the sorrow somehow lead to greater unity and compassion - and the love of the Lord touch many.
