So far as we know Rachmaninov was not a Christian himself, but he was deeply influenced by his love for Russia, and the chants of the Orthodox Church feature prominently in his music. Let’s use this music, which is called 'Bogoroditse Devo’, and which is taken from his beautiful Vespers, to pour out of hearts in prayer for the people of Russia to hunger after the things of God, to turn their backs on all that is sordid, cruel and truly ungodly and to come to know the Lord Jesus deeply.
