Stunningly flamboyant, and said to have been inspired by a Polish folk dance, here is something to bring heart-skipping joy! Nicola Gerrard and Julia Herzog lead us in this fast-flowing movement from Georg Philipp Telemann’s double concerto for flute and recorder, which we recorded during our ‘Heaven’s Kingdom’ event in Kempsey in 2018.
Telemann was a prolific composer, and highly regarded by his baroque contemporaries, more so even than Bach and Vivaldi! After all the muck and mire of so much disheartening and distressing news in the media, we pray that something of the exultation and purity of Heaven’s own Kingdom will spill out through the music, carrying the life and rhythm to hearts and homes.
