Pastors Brandon, Megan and Steve discuss Isaiah 9:1-7. “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” The reading comes just before the exile — a time of incredible pain and suffering. At the time, it probably pointed toward the hope of a just political king. The way we read scripture can change. Today, we hear this as a promise of the coming of Jesus. God’s promises can be renewed and updated for our time. How do you see God’s hope at work when things seem hopeless?
