DPP caucus leader Ker Chien-ming refuses to step down despite recall failure
D-P-P legislative chief convener Ker Chien-ming is dismissing calls for him
to step down following the failure this past Saturday of the remaining seven
recall votes targeting K-M-T lawmakers to pass.

According to Ker, he plans to remain in his post.

Ker was one of the party's most vocal supporters of the recalls - even
claiming (聲稱) that when they were successful he planned to seek the post of
legislative speaker.

Ker's refusal to step down comes after D-P-P legislative caucus whip Wu
Szu-yao and caucus secretary-general Chen Pei-yu both said they will now step
down from their posts to take responsibility for the failed recalls.

Venezuelan opposition leaders and civil society groups said that the
government released 13 people jailed in a crackdown by the government of
President Nicolas Maduro following last year’s disputed elections.

Venezuelan authorities did not immediately confirm the releases.

Opposition leaders like Henrique Capriles celebrated on social media, calling
it a “step forward for those behind bars.”

He said eight people were freed, while five more were released under house

Australia Protests Demanding Actions to Save Palestinians
Tens of thousands of people have marched through Australian cities demanding
action to save Palestinians.

Peaceful rallies took place on Sunday in Sydney, Melbourne and other cities,
urging sanctions on Israel and an end to Australia's arms trade with the
country.

Police estimated about 10,000 people took part, while organizers claimed
100,000 marched in Sydney alone.

The protests followed a report on Friday stating that Gaza’s largest city is
gripped by famine (飢荒).

The report warned of catastrophic hunger levels, with many at risk of dying
from malnutrition-related causes.
