Surface Level Diversity
Mali believes that Europe is not that diverse. Yes, it has a unique mixture of genders, ages, colors, attitudes, backgrounds, and cultures, so it is said that Europe has diversity. Yet, Mali says that people fail to look inside the company and university setting. In her example, the people behind one successful company are three white males of the same background. Jumping to another venture capital company, and it is still the same three. Mali aims to break this cycle by diversifying venture capitals, but another problem is the difficulty of finding investors and getting accepted in startup programs. As a solution, she puts up a company for women to push them and pitch their ideas. It is her way to achieve real diversity.
Empowering Female Leaders
European women do not have the courage to fundraise their startups. They are too scared to make it ready for their customers, the market, and a pilot test. Mali says it is all traced back to the culture. No one gave European women the idea that they could build big companies. To push women to become leaders, Mali has a 12 skills development program exclusively for women. She found out that communication is the most needed skill, so women have more trust in themselves. The network is capable of opening almost any door when women are very sharp. Communicating in the right way helps them to be their best.
