- Jake speculates that the Marvel Comics character Death first appeared in an issue of Silver Surfer, but he’s wrong. She was introduced in Captain Marvel #26 (the cover of which features Ben Grimm aka The Thing saying his famous catchphrase).
- Joe imagines that Phil's dad looked like Richard Dreyfuss. Phil says he was more like Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws, but he liked to think of himself as like Roy Scheider or Robert Shaw from Jaws.
- It's hard to understand from the lyrics of “The Crossroads” by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony what the Crossroads is. Is it Purgatory?
- Joe & Jake have both had pretty severe brain injuries and they brag about it and lord it over Phil all the time.
- Vietnam uses the dong for it's currency.
- Phil looked into whether there’s a clean version of the song about the place in France (you know the one). It’s built on an old melody ("the Arabian Riff") that was brought to America for the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. This melody is often used whenever there is belly dancing or snake charming going on. Phil had assumed that the song was about the Folies Bergere. Kesha used it in 2010.
- Jake heard legendary comics writer Chris Claremont discuss the characters Mister Sinister & Gambit on this episode of Screw It, We’re Just Gonna Talk About Comics.
- Surge was a real soda in the 90s. Jooky was a fictional soda that Sprite invented in the 90s so they could contrast their own brutal honesty against Jooky's lies. The problem was that the fake ads for Jooky made us want it.
- Phil's wife Beth is from Stockton, CA (aka “The 209”), well-known for having the deepest inland seaport on the West Coast and having the second-oldest symphony in California.
