One last issue of Urania for the road (wiki link). This feminist journal was published from 1919 to 1940 and is composed of poems, news clippings, opinions, announcements, and letters related to the issue of a "sex binary" in science, society, and culture. I am so thankful I came across this journal and I think it is important to let queer history inform our present-day conversations.
This week I am reading Issue Nos. 115 & 116, January-April 1936 (pdf). It includes "An Authentic Change of Sex" of Zdeněk Koubek, the author Winifred Holtby, "Jesus Ignored Sex," Dr. Margaret Mead’s Sex and Temperament, women’s suffrage in Japan, and a trans book of essays called Eve’s Sour Apples.
All events mentioned are pulled directly from the QBurgh calendar.
