Beyoncé to Oprah. These talented, hard-working women may make the content, but do they own it? Christian F. Nunes speaks with Nicci Gilbert Daniels, the CEO of WIRF Media and founder of the From The Bottom Up Foundation. Nicci discusses the barriers that women face in media and entertainment, even after the SAG-AFTRA strike, and she shares the secret to breaking down those barriers—women-led ownership.

Grammy-nominated Nicci Gilbert-Daniels has been a leader in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, and received the 2018 “Woman Of Impact” award from BET. She is the CEO of WIRF Media (Women in Reality Film), a media company which works to change toxic film narratives about minority women. She’s also the founder of the non-profit From The Bottom Up Foundation, which works to reduce inequalities and raise awareness of issues facing women and girls of color.
