We are called to walk closely with God and display His goodness, through serving our cities with heaven's solutions to the problems they face - destroying works of the devil and pushing back darkness. The primary enemies that hinder us and keep us in wilderness seasons longer than necessary are not people or problems “out there”. Even lack of preparation or provision are not the primary obstacles we face. Our primary enemies are fear and discouragement.
The strategy to overcoming fear and discouragement is not simply minimizing challenges and bolstering our self-esteem. We overcome by honestly identifying our fears and discouragements, bringing them into the light of God’s word and presence, and allowing an ever-enlarging view of the God with us to make us strong and courageous.
Where in our society or city is God calling you to destroy works of the devil and push back darkness? Are there any fears or discouragements stopping you from responding to that call?
Ask God to help you specifically identify what those fears or discouragements are. Then ask Him what He has to say about them and how to overcome them.
