1 Samuel 2 & 3
Honour is commanded all through scripture. There’s a hierarchy included as well, affirming who and what should be honoured. Honour is akin to glory and it’s a powerful form of currency in the kingdom of God.
Anything we honour is determined to be ‘worthy’ of value. But that ‘worthiness’ is not predicated on my view or yours, it’s a valuation which God has ordained. So, whether it’s God, parents, spouse or government leaders – honour is due because that’s how God has determined it should be.
The Bible rarely gives us a middle ground on the topic of honour. For instance, if we do not honour God, he sees us as despising him.
Switching over to this ‘currency of the kingdom’ requires us to fully cash out everything we’ve formerly been investing in. Are you ready to live a life of that honours God? It’s an exciting, life changing decision which orients ourselves beautifully in the kingdom of God while we live out – “on earth as it is in heaven.”
