Matthew was born in Winnipeg and spent parts of his youth in Winnipeg, Montreal and Oakville, Ontario. He attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario in the mid 90's with the intention of going on to law school. But, he became interested in the emerging Internet and instead ended up working in IT at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Shortly after Y2K, he was approached by a software company in Vancouver and decided with his then girlfriend, and now wife, to give Vancouver a one-year trial. They have called B.C. home ever since. His career has evolved into specializing in IT Security and Networking with recent focus on those disciplines as they pertain to the Cloud. Matthew lives in North Vancouver, BC with his wife and two school aged sons.
