“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.

SHAME is a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by sin

Shame is the feeling the follows SIN

Sin we commit 

Sin committed against us.

SHAME IS AN OVERWHELMING FEAR OF ABANDONMENT. 

SHAME IS AN OVERWHELMING FEAR OF REJECTION. 

SHAME IS AN OVERWHELMING BELIEF THAT I AM BROKEN. 

“Shame says, ‘what happened determines who you are’.” 

In other words, your action determine your identity…

SHAME HIDES ME FROM YOU

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees in the garden.

SHAME LIES TO ME ABOUT ME

17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?”

And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
