In part 2 of this rewiring series, I will be discussing the conscious mind, or your frontal cortex.
- The conscious brain only controls 5% of the daily thoughts and behaviors.
- Its sole purpose is to take commands and implement them.
- The conscious mind is what we're actively thinking about, the subconscious is what we've learned and stored in our brain. Which means that the conscious mind can only process what is happening IN THE MOMENT.
- This contains all of the thoughts, memories, feelings, and wishes that we are aware of in any given moment. It can get overwhelmed easy, and cannot hold as much information as the subconscious mind.
- Goes to sleep with you.
- When you wake up and make breakfast, your conscious mind is making breakfast but your subconscious mind is what will control the actions (grabbing ingredients, knowing your way around the kitchen, how to not burn at the stove etc).
