Description

Welcome to episode #159! This week, Matt and Braden talk about the impact the subtle porn has on culture and on individuals that can sometimes go unidentified.

You're more impacted than you know
With the world becoming more and more hyper-sexualized and tolerant to perverse sexuality, the extreme nature of sexual behaviour gets further and further away from what most of us engage with. However, this still affects us because it makes our sexually sinful behaviour seem more acceptable. As an example masturbation becomes easier to justify when others are normalizing pedophilia. This is why we have to know the Word of God and have that be our standard.

Sex is about serving, not self

The message about sex from culture is to pursue sex for ourselves, our pleasure, our fun, and our validation. On the other hand, the Bible makes it clear that we are not supposed to pursue sexual activity with any selfish motives at all, but that we're supposed to pursue it for our spouse's pleasure and for the betterment of our marriage.

Be proud of being different

If you've never been with another person sexually, be proud of that! Even despite the disappointment of not having that connection, there is so much value and blessing in being sexually abstinent outside of marriage. The world wants you to feel that you're missing out, but sexual sin makes us miss out on the blessing of God's protection from the damage that comes from sexual sin.
