Welcome to episode #16! In this week's podcast, Matt and Braden go deep into exposing where fantasies come from
What's the harm in fantasizing?
Fantasies lead us to act out. If we learn how to eliminate fantasies, we won't continue on in the journey to eventually acting out in porn, masturbation, or fornication. Our brains don't know the difference between our thoughts and reality, so the more we dwell on fantasies, the less content we'll feel with the actual reality of our life.
There are typically 4 sources of fantasy
1) Unfulfilled Desires
2) Past Trauma
3) A Nurturing Event
4) First Sexual Experience
Learning where our fantasies come from will allow us to identify an area of lack or pain in our lives so that we can pursue healing.
Learning how to deal with fantasies is so important!
We must learn how to surrender our fantasies to God. It can be awkward sharing them with other people too, but when we find a safe person to be open with, sharing our fantasies is part of God's design for freedom. Realizing that living out our fantasy, in reality, is never as 'perfect' as what we dream about, helps us deal with the fantasies and increase the joy we can experience in our lives. By putting yourself in the reality of your fantasy, you're allowing yourself to conquer the power the fantasy has over you.
