Welcome to episode #78!
This week, Matt and Braden slip n' slide into two of the slippery slopes to addiction you might find yourself on without even knowing it.
Slippery Slope #1: The things we do
Do you scroll social media, watch movies, or escape into other activities to avoid conflict that's brewing in your life or your soul? These things aren't all bad, but when we use neutral vices to pass the time because we don't want to look ourselves in the face and deal with what's hard in life, we are living in a vulnerable state that will likely lead to further sin in our lives - especially if habitual sin has been in our past or is still currently in our lives.
Slippery Slope #2: The things we forget to do
What do time with God, healthy food, journalling, and exercise have in common? They're all good for the soul. These - and many more things - are all helpful in overcoming sin, as well as staying free from sin by pursuing holistic health in our lives. Are there healthy habits or activities that you know you've been neglecting? The goal here is to be the healthiest person possible in every area. When we pursue a healthy lifestyle, we're less likely to fall into sin.
Awareness is key! Talk to God about it
There are so many activities that could fall into both of the categories listed above. God will reveal things that He wants you to focus on at the present time. Ask Him where you might be slipping in your life and listen for Him to answer. You don't have to always be so serious and working on things in life, but being aware of where you're at and how things are affecting you by listening for God's leading constantly is the best way to pursue health in our lives.
