Description

Oui, oui, your humble co-hosts are enjoying their honeymoon in France today, so Hallie has cooked up a bouillabaisse of six trivia questions about this romantic land of fine dining and fine wining.  She also serves up discussions about pointillism, gambling, and sparkling wine!  And, we crown this season’s champion, which is somewhat ironic, considering what the French tend to do to people with crowns.  Vive la France!

17:58: Q3 (Sports & Games): What casino game has been played in its current form since 1796 beginning in Paris and is believed to have been invented in its primitive form by Blaise Pascal in the 17th century?

26:54: Q4 (Everything Else): What is the French term for the last step of the methode champenoise, aka champagne production, in which some older wine and extra sugar are added to adjust the sweetness of the final product?

32:23: Q5 (Science): What simple device named after a French physicist was the first experiment to give direct evidence of the earth’s rotation?

36:19: Q6 (Arts & Literature): Georges Seurat, the most prominent French painter to use the technique called pointillism, also invented what art theory concept, which basically says that humans can optically mix the pigments on a canvas rather than having the pigments mixed physically by the artists themselves?  Either of its 2 names are acceptable.
