The sacred/secular split has hurt our witness and effectiveness in our cities; to see the “church” world as “sacred” while our neighborhood and workplaces are described as “secular” denies us the beauty of experiencing the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in the marketplace. The presence of God is not reserved for “worship” services on Sunday, but is constantly available to all God’s people in whatever career, calling or neighborhood they have been assigned by God.
