The Climate Report for 12/8/22 is the fifth and final show of a multi-part special series on a just-released ground breaking new report on the Sierra Nevada region and the impacts of climate change.
The first ever comprehensive and scientifically-backed “Sierra Nevada Regional Climate Vulnerability Assessment” was recently released, and it’s a multi-year effort by the Sierra Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partnership (Sierra CAMP), an arm of the Sierra Business Council.
For this fifth special edition Climate Report on the new analysis, we dive into the findings of the capacity of our communities to handle climate change, based on five types of “community capital”:
- financial capital (money)
- human capital (individuals with knowledge and skills)
- social capital (willingness of individuals to work together)
- cultural capital (a shared sense of unique identity and way of life), and
- physical capital (infrastructure that works)
We talk about the chapter on Nevada County specifically.
For the next Climate Report on Thursday December 22nd, we recap some of the most important climate news for 2022.
