One of the most common questions that's asked is "Do I need to hit rock bottom in order to get sober?". It's true that there needs to be a certain amount of pain to be present in order for people to get sober. But the severity of the problem varies from person to person. Rock bottom looks different to each individual and "rock bottom" isn't always needed for a person to make a change. But a certain amount of pain or fear needs to be reached for people to realize that change is needed. Otherwise, if things were always good, addicts and alcoholics wouldn't make a change in the first place. Pain is our greatest motivator when addressing our drinking/drugging issues.
