Emily and Samie are back—hydrated and furious, and here to provide a breakdown of the good, bad, and ugly from the 2025 Washington State legislative session.
💥 THE GOOD: Washington lawmakers did pass six Planned Parenthood priority bills!
💸 THE BAD: The final state budget increased capital gains and business taxes (cool), but also jacked up the gas tax (regressive, unnecessary, and dumb). Even worse? They cut $8.5 million from the Abortion Access Fund, because why invest in actual care when you promise protection?
THE UGLY: Instead of taxing the ultra-wealthy, the state legislature threw the burden onto working people and gutted services. It was a zero-sum game, and no matter which party you sided with, in the end, we all lost.
Also on the roast list:
Every kid deserves safety, privacy, and the freedom to be themselves, and lawmakers who can tell the difference between parental rights and performative cruelty.
🎟️ Upcoming: Don’t forget to grab your tickets for “Drinks, Dissent, and Defiance” on May 15 in Seattle, hosted by Planned Parenthood. Come for the solidarity, stay for the shame spiral.
