Every Christian has a story of how they came to know Christ and follow Christ. Four of the first disciples came to know Christ because of the testimony. God's effectual call is irresistible, and the call to the gospel and the Messiah is a call to be rescued and delivered. In pure Puritan fashion, here are 6 applications from the text to help you in your evangelism.
1. Focus on Faithfulness (not results).
2. Proclaim the whole gospel message.
3. Rely on the Holy Spirit to open the eyes and regenerate the heart.
4. Purposeful Supplication prayer. (FPRU: pray in faith; make the prayer personal; make the request specific; pray in urgency )
5. Patience
6. Always Point to the Messiah
Divine sovereignty is not a hindrance but rather the foundation for confident evangelism, providing the assurance that results belong to God.
Faithfully communicate the gospel message about God, sin, Christ, rescue, repentance, while leaving the results to God – for he alone has the power to change hearts.
