Sometimes all it takes is that small moment of inspiration to create a business that is truly unique. Conan Fugit and his wife, Katherine, turned their love of campers and photography into a thriving photo booth business to travel to events all over the Wichita area. Conan talks with hosts Don and Ebony about their love for vintage and nostalgic items led to their experimentation and how Wichita provides the supporting community needed for small businesses to thrive. On this episode we discuss:
Learn more about Lamphouse Photo Booth:
Their first event was in 2013, and they will celebrate 8 years in business this June. They started with a vintage camper analog photography studio & darkroom that was featured on the Phoblographer and Rangefinder magazine. In 2015 they merged into exclusively digital photo booths. Today they have the Birdie Booths which we take to weddings, public events, and corporate parties as well as the Little "Lampy" Camper photo booth.
The pandemic shifted their priorities from in-person events to connecting with our followers via social media, so they took the year to start a YouTube channel where they document remodeling vintage campers and also talk about what it's like to operate a photo booth business out of one. It started as a fun distraction but eventually grew into its own unique business venture. They also recently started renting their first vintage camper remodel from the channel for elopement photo shoots, mini sessions, and other photography content projects through Lamphouse.
