Description

Welcome to the very first episode of Yesterday's Capers. Every week, Abdullah Moallim and Chris Reeves, will be reviewing and looking back at some of the most memorable and well known tv shows and cartoons from the past. Every week Abdullah and Chris will have a matchup between two shows as well as an in-depth discussion about a specific show.

The matchup this week is Top Cat vs Pink Panther, and the hosts will decide which cat comes out on top.

In our featured show segment we take a special look at Tom & Jerry and discuss the impact it had on society and how the cartoon has managed to transcend generations. We also talk about some of the most iconic episodes and how Tom & Jerry dealt with things such as race and violence. Lastly, Chris and Abdullah compare the Fred Quimby and Chuck Jones eras and talk about which Tom & Jerry era they prefer.

Our guest this week is Ismael Lea South, Director and Project Manager of a community based organization called The Salam Project. We'll be talking about Ismail's childhood, his favourite cartoons, Tom & Jerry and The Salam Project and the challenges they face. In addition, we discuss the issues facing young people today and how best to overcome these issues.

The full interview with Ismael Lea South will be available on YouTube after the release of the podcast episode.
