In today's episode of Interactions, we hear from Kristina Arriaga and her Canopy Forum article "Disgust and Discrimination in Tehran," where she demonstrates how the recent surge of hate propaganda against members of the Baha’i faith in Iran is rooted in a politics of disgust.
"The campaign casts the Bahai’s as disloyal to the regime, as agents for other countries, and, most notably, as “unclean," Arriaga says.

And the Baha'i are not the only religious group who have been at the receiving end of a weaponized disgust: Arriaga outlines multiple examples of groups throughout history, religious or otherwise, who have been marginalized by a politics of disgust.
How has disgust characterized the hate campaigns against the Baha'i, as well as against minority groups throughout history? And how can we combat a politics of disgust?
