The premiere begins in 2012, with Loki using the Tesseract to escape the custody of The Avengers. He is immediately captured by the Time Variance Authority and taken to stand trial for his alleged crime. The TVA is an all-powerful organization created by entities known as the Timekeepers to maintain the proper flow of time. Judge Renslayer is just about to “reset” a guilty Loki, but the God of Mischief is saved by Agent Mobius, an investigator who hunts particularly dangerous variants. Mobius interrogates Loki in an effort to break through his emotional defenses, showing Loki his future and the consequences of his actions. Loki briefly escapes, only to realize the futility of it and, in the process, his own insignificance and powerlessness in the universe. Mobius then offers Loki a proposition. He wants Loki to help the TVA hunt down a fugitive variant that has been killing teams of TVA Minutemen because the variant is Loki himself.
Loki is Marvel’s third Disney+ show, continuing Phase 4 of the MCU. Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia DiMartino, and Richard E. Grant.
