The Madames express their overall disappointment regarding Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings. While they do praise the film’s stellar action sequences & soundtrack, they have a lot of problems with it otherwise. They discuss major issues with the script & editing, and how they affect the character development of Shang, Katy, Xialing, and Wenwu. The Madames also focus on the writers’ poor treatment of its female characters, including Shang’s mother, Ying Li. They also talk about the second half of the film devolving into a stereotypical monster-verse movie.
Shang-Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings is the 25th overall film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is the second film released for Phase 4. It stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, Meng’er Zhang, & Ben Kingsley.
