This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris get caught in a time loop and discuss 2014's Edge of Tomorrow, as the anime adaptation of All You Need is Kill is now out in theaters.
Tom Cruise stars as Major William Cage, a military PR officer who is the talking head for the battle against the "Mimics", a hostile alien race that has invaded Earth and destroyed most of Europe. As humanity's big counteroffensive is set to commence, Cage is ordered to cover the frontlines but refuses to engage in actual combat. After trying to blackmail his superior officer, he's arrested, demoted to private, and sent to join the misfits of J-Squad. Piloting an exo-suit, Cage is forced into battle where he encounters an "Alpha" mimic whose blood enters his body before he dies. Cage awakens back at the military base and learns he's now in a time loop, with the day resetting every time he dies. Zach and Chris discuss why the Mimics would risk their super-powerful Alphas in battle at all, how certain groups of loops are used for mini-missions, the fantastic dark humor, Emily Blunt's badass melee combat, and more.
You can rent or buy Edge of Tomorrow on platforms like Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and Prime Video. Next week, we're heading back to Silent Hill as Return to Silent Hill hits theaters.
