This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris head to Mexico City on a mission of vengeance with Denzel Washington and discuss the 2004 Tony Scott movie, Man on Fire, as a new version of the story hits Netflix.
Based on the novel by A.J. Quinnell, Denzel Washington stars as John Creasy, a former Marine and CIA operative who is racked by guilt from his past actions and has become an alcoholic. Visiting his friend Paul Rayburn (Christopher Walken) in Mexico City, Creasy takes a job guarding the daughter of wealthy automaker Samuel Ramos (Marc Anthony), Pita Ramos (Dakota Fanning). While distant at first, Pita's persistent precociousness breaks through his hard shell. When Pita is kidnapped and believed to be dead when the ransom money drop goes bad, Creasy vows to track down and kill everyone involved. Zach and Chris discuss the movie's frenetic, music-video style, Christopher Walken's food-acting, how often Creasy uses rectal bombs on people, how none of the kidnapping organization poses a physical threat to Creasy, how everything that happens is because of insurance, and more.
You can watch Man on Fire on Starz. Next week, we're continuing the vengeance with Punisher: War Zone, as we get ready for both The Punisher: One Last Kill and Jon Bernthal's appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
