She’s going there. Yes, Jill Devine is talking about politics on an entire episode. In previous episodes, Jill has stated she’s not a political person. She claims to be ignorant on a lot of political items because she hasn’t taken the time to educate herself. Having children has made Jill want to dive into learning more about the views of each political party because she is concerned for her daughters’ future locally and nationally. Plus, she wants to be able to have discussions about politics with her daughters as they get older, shall they have questions.
In deciding to dedicate one episode to politics and the upcoming Presidential election, it was important for Jill to have a guest on who could give a bipartisan viewpoint. Jill reached out to Rachel Zimmerman to see if she knew someone who would make a great guest. Rachel is the Executive Producer of The Dave Glover Show and the show does discuss politics at times, but the show is derived of members that align with different political parties, so there’s a lot of perspective. Rachel told Jill she wanted to be the guest because she felt like she was up for the challenge and had been doing a lot of research and self-education on each political party and their stance on the important issues. Without hesitation, Jill invited Rachel to come on the podcast to discuss the questions and concerns Jill has regarding the election and the important issues Americans are facing. By the way, this is the second time Rachel has been on the podcast. She was part of Season 1, Episode 7: Why Would I Think A Woman Without Kids Couldn’t Console Me?
Rachel also reminded Jill of in person absentee voting until November 2nd by 5pm. General voting is November 3rd from 6a-7p. If you’re unsure where your polling place is or you’re looking for your ballot, visit Vote.org. As far as a resource for more information on each party and additional information on their viewpoints, Rachel suggested Electionguide.org.
New to Season 4, the Supermom Shoutout! Jill would like to acknowledge and recognize the hard work moms put in on the daily. It can be a thankless job at times, and Jill wants these moms to know their worth. This week’s Supermom Shoutout goes to Chelsea of St. Charles, MO! Her friend, Kelly, nominated her and said:
Hi Jill-
I wanted to nominate a friend of mine. Her name is Chelsea and she is a local photographer and mom. She photographed my wedding and is amazing! She also does mini sessions and donates 100% of the proceeds to the Backstoppers, but that's not what makes her a super mom.
She currently has a 5-year-old daughter but suffered two devastating losses. She had a still born son at 34 weeks and another miscarriage at 16 weeks. She has continued to keep her boys' memories alive in the most beautiful way. She is currently in the process of adopting (going on 2 years) and has shared so much raw emotion throughout the journey.
Chelsea– YOU are seen and YOU are supported!
To nominate a Supermom (or you can nominate yourself) email hello@jilldevine.com. Submit the name of the Supermom, where they're from, and a brief description as to why Jill should shout out this particular Supermom.
