NOTES:
This devotion is based upon Psalm 145 which Spurgeon nicknamed, David's crown jewel of praise. So, I am choosing to call this devotion, “Admiring the Crown Jewel of Praise”.
Since Spurgeon chose to compare it to the Crown Jewels of England, I will include within the devotion a few references to the 23,000 gemstones stored and protected within the Tower of London. I am choosing to highlight five primary points of praise related to God’s amazing character. Each of these five are far more attractive and far more valuable than the five gemstones that are mounted on the Imperial State Crown located within the Tower of London.
1. We shall admire the diamond of His greatness, 145:1-3, 6
2. We shall admire the sapphire of His glory, 145:145:4-5, 11-13
3. We shall admire the emerald of His goodness, 145:7, 9-10
4. We shall admire the pearl of His grace, 145:8, 14, 18-21
5. We shall admire the ruby of His generosity, 145:15-17
