Description

Jesus gave a parable contrasting two builders who chose different kinds of foundations upon which they built their houses. One chose to build upon sand, while the other chose to build his house upon a rock. The same kind of storm hit each house, but the man who built his home upon the rock watched as his house stood through the storm. The other man’s home was unfortunately washed away.

Edward Mote wrote these timeless words back in 1832, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

Isaiah 28:14-22 reminds me so much of this parable and this song. It too speaks of a strong foundation for eternity that is available in Christ, but some will not prepare for a future storm that will most certainly come someday. Actually, Hebrews 9:27 warns mankind that one day a storm called “death" will come for every person, but then, if they rejected Christ’s offer, then they must face the “judgement".
