Sometimes we feel as though we are going under and frantically scramble for anything that will keep us afloat. On February 16, 2021, a Lithuanian engineer went out on the deck of his cargo ship for some fresh air since he was feeling a little lightheaded. Unfortunately, he fainted and slipped overboard somewhere between New Zealand and Pitcairn. He had no lifejacket and was not noticed as missing until 6 hours after the incident. Thankfully, he swam to a nearby fishing buoy and clung to it for 14 hours until he was rescued.
When nothing else will keep you floating in life, try swimming toward the "buoy of gratitude". It will keep you afloat, just ask one of the ten lepers healed by Jesus.

Martin Rinkart served as a pastor in Eilenburg, Germany during the Thirty Year War. It was a destructive conflict in which 8 million people perished. This godly pastor cared for the sick and buried the dead in his congregation and in his community. He performed 4,480 funerals due to a subsequent plague that accompanied and followed the war years. He saw suffering up close and personal and was known to have spoken at 50 funerals a day at some points. Amazing to consider that this man wrote, “Now Thank We All Our God”.
