Pushed to the Tipping Point (Genesis 6:1-8)
In His Word, God reveals one particular aspect of His character with this clear statement written in 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” If He personally does not like disorder, then it is not surprising that He next says in 1 Corinthians 14:40, “But all things should be done decently and in order.” He is a God of order.
Genesis 6:1-8 is a serious turning point that sets up the reason for the massive global flood that the Lord unleashed on all of humanity. Why did He flood the earth? Because mankind, and even some of the angels, went beyond the reasonable boundaries that the Lord had established. But isn’t it amazing that before judgment came grace had already started constructing a way of escape! Yes, His holiness demanded that He judge the world, but His mercy also planned how to save the world.
